Let's introduce ourselves!
Hi, I’m Sarah and I am the creator of Throttle and Thread.
I qualified as an adult nurse in 2009 and worked in a range of areas including palliative, elderly, outpatient and cosmetic nursing for about 10 years. My favourite nurse position was Marie Curie. The privilege that comes in sharing someone in their last moments is something that cannot be explained.
Just as I was about to qualify in 2009 I was diagnosed with endometriosis following surgery. I was determined to get on with what I could to have normality and I managed until we had our most amazing son who was born poorly. Vinnie was born in 2013 and was in and out of hospital for complex issues that still have not been diagnosed. He had a nasogastric tube for 3 years of his little life and we are still yet to find out the cause of his wide range of issues. This teamed with my own health issues led me to realise how fragile and short life is. Unable to work shifts and stick to a pattern of work, I thought about what I wanted to do. I have always been creative and always wanted to be an advocate for people who don’t fit in with what is expected of us. Sometimes it is a massive demand to try to be someone who should fit into a mould that just isn’t made for you!
So in my head came Throttle and Thread- I didn’t need to be sad that I couldn’t do what I thought I should, I needed to be happy that I could turn it around and pass on that same energy to others.
Sometimes it is hard to get out and ride as much as I would like, but that never stopped me from moving forward.
So there comes the concept of Throttle and Thread and I hope that it grows into something amazing.
For all who love travel, who love motors, who feel different, who are different – I want to put a smile on everyone that comes here.
My creativity has no bounds and that is the beauty of it. I may not be able to have the career I thought I would have, but I can use every ounce of my passion into making something worthwhile for me.
My aim is to evolve Throttle and Thread into something for everyone, where everyone can find something they love.
Watch this space and much love to everyone out there.

Hi, I’m Adrian.
I never really had an interest in motorbikes when I was growing up, I was more interested in cars, yet when I turned 17, I never jumped at the opportunity to learn to drive a car. I had a few lessons over the year that followed but never went for my test. I was told that I could ride up to a 125cc motorcycle on L-plates, so I went for my CBT and before I knew it, I had the freedom on 2 wheels. This was to be the start of my 2 wheeled journey.
I started off on a 1992 MZ ETZ125. I promptly sold this after 2 weeks, discovering I was not a fan of 2 strokes or kick starts. Following this, I purchased new, a Yamaha YBR125, which remained with me for a number of years even after obtaining my full license. I have owned a number of bikes over the years ranging from a 1968 BSA Bantam (which took me to our wedding in 2020) up to an Aprilia RSV1000. My current bike is a 2002 Kawasaki W650 which I have owned since June 2021 and is quickly becoming one of my favourite bikes I have owned.
When Sarah and I met, it was quickly apparent how suited we were. We both had a love for bikes and both wanted to take a chance on doing something different in our lives, however, our individual reasons had led us there.
When the pandemic hit I was furloughed. It was at that time I started to take a more active interest in what Sarah was doing. We knew that we worked well together and our love of spending time in each others company meant that we made a great little team.
We decided to expand the range we could offer to people by way of sublimation – a process that uses special inks and heat to press Sarah’s designs onto specially prepared items. This would quickly become my area of expertise and we knew then that we had found a way to make it work.
So now we are up to the point where this website is being made and I am excited to see what the future holds for us.
Ever since we met, cars and bikes have always played a big part in our lives. Vince and I met at school and were childhood sweethearts. I was studious and embraced school whilst Vince was a lover of things that required fixing or mending. We have both worked hard for the things we have had in our lives together. Some would say this makes the achievement much more satisfying.
There are many memories for us and many include motors. From me sitting doing my homework in the car whilst Vince was tinkering with something, to exchanging our car for Vince’s brother’s bike. Fair weather biking was not an option when Vince had to travel to work every day on his bike so I could have the car. He even kept one in the kitchen for a while!
After trudging around many car shows, sometimes with Sarah and her brother in tow, Vince was determined to try and restore a car.
After finding ‘Wanda’ on eBay California – a 1960 Chevrolet Impala in need of much restoration, we put our bid in from our UK home with 10 seconds to go. The bid was won and she was ours. Vince’s dream of restoration had begun.
12 years later and with much blood, sweat, tears and the selling of other vehicles to fund finishing it (including my Pontiac Firebird), she was complete. Vince had the opportunity to be featured in Classic American Magazine for his restoration work on Wanda. A wonderful article and something which we will treasure forever.
Due to the passing of time and ill health, this was to be Vince’s only restoration project, but she is a beauty and I am immensely proud.
I first got into motorbike road racing by watching Guy Martin in ‘The boat that Guy built’. I started to follow the Isle of Man TT on the TV and even booked annual leave from work so I could listen to the senior race on the radio.
After listening to Hutchy being interviewed on the radio in 2015 after his emotional return, we decided it was a no brainer that we would have to go and experience it for ourselves.
After our first trip, I was hooked. It quickly became my passion. I used to get some odd looks when I would talk to the other ladies at work when I explained that it wasn’t my husband ‘dragging’ me to watch the races, but that I actually wanted to go. It seemed that still in day to day life there are stereotypes that we need to overcome.
We continue to go to the TT every year it’s on and now have a motorhome to enjoy our travels in. We trailer the bike so we have the best of both worlds when we are there and are looking forward to many more adventures on 2 and 4 wheels!

Our Vision
We are diversifying and empowering, one make at a time.
Welcome to Throttle and Thread!
We love the unconventional, and we like to do things differently. We like to know people’s stories, who people are and what makes them happy.
We enjoy encouraging people to embrace their individuality.
We believe there is a lot that can be said for kindness and compassion.
After constantly finding a lack of options for smaller groups and communities, such as gifts for female bikers or gifts for people with certain medical conditions, we wanted to create Throttle and Thread so that we can embrace everyone.
Through personal experiences and also through friends and family, we have witnessed how something they are looking for as a gift may be hard to find. This is how we came to realise that in the end, they would always come to us with an idea, and we would turn it into what they wanted.
Our aim is to be able to empower people who can’t find what they are looking for. We want to design and create a wide range of unique and diverse gifts. Our designs are inclusive of everyone, and we will always adapt it to suit who you are.
If it makes you happy, it makes us happy.
We have a keen interest in supporting other small businesses by helping create merchandise and building relationships with them.
We also love to create and make for charity, creating awareness for lesser known charities that have touched our hearts.
Our vision is a bold one, and we love it!
